Boiler repair in North Brunswick, NJ covers the water-side faults that leave you with cold radiators, pressure alarms or a puddle under the unit. Many older homes still rely on hot water heat.

Safety first. If you smell gas, leave the house and call 911 or PSE&G at 1-800-880-7734 before anyone calls a plumber. If a boiler is leaking heavily, switch off its power, close the water feed and call us.

We can often restore heat quickly when the problem is a pump, zone valve or leaking fitting. If the boiler is at the end of its life, we explain options honestly. The domestic hot water side is covered on our water heater repair page.

Scope

What We Handle And What We Refer

We repair circulator pumps, zone valves, expansion tanks, pressure relief valves, feed valves, air eliminators and leaking piping. We also bleed systems and flush sludge.

Burner and combustion service is a separate trade in some cases. When the problem is the burner, flue or combustion, we tell you if another licensed heating contractor is needed. We do not guess on gas appliances.

Seasonal

Winter Readiness

A no-heat call in January feels like an emergency. A fall tune-up costs less than a winter outage. Check pressure, listen for odd noises, bleed radiators and look for damp spots on piping before the cold arrives.

A leak in a boiler loop can also freeze and burst a pipe, so see burst pipe repair if water is running. Close the boiler feed valve, switch off power to the unit and call the 24/7 line.

Decision

Repair Or Replace A Boiler?

Boilers can last decades when maintained. A repair makes sense if the boiler is sound and the part is small. Replacement makes sense if the heat exchanger leaks, the unit is inefficient and failing repeatedly, or parts are no longer made.

We show you both sets of numbers and let you decide. Replacement of a boiler is a larger project, and your heating contractor or utility may have rebates.

Local

Local Notes

PSE&G announced it would replace aging cast-iron gas pipes on about 22 North Brunswick streets from October 2023 through 2024, among them Wheeler Road, Hobart Road, Kearny Drive and Harding Avenue. If you are on a street with utility work, ask the utility whether your service was affected before you assume the boiler is at fault.

According to PSE&G, anyone who smells gas should leave the building and move at least 350 feet away before calling 911 or the utility at 1-800-880-7734.

Adds time but can fix noise and cold spots.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Air is trapped in the system. Bleeding the radiators usually fixes it, and a failing air vent or low pressure may be behind it.

A fitting, relief valve or the boiler itself may be leaking. Switch off power and the feed valve, then call. A leak from a boiler section often means replacement.

Leave the house and call 911 or PSE&G at 1-800-880-7734 from outside. Do not use switches or phones near the smell.

We handle the water side. When the burner or flue needs work, we say if another licensed heating contractor is needed.
